Remember To Dream, Vol. 15
“If you want to be successful, you have to jump. There’s no way around it. If you’re safe, you’ll never soar.” - Steve Harvey
Profiles In Dreaming
Every week, I profile someone that has fulfilled their dream against the odds and highlight three lessons from their journey.
The King Of Comedy
How does a child with a stutter go on to become one of the most recognizable figures on TV today? How does a man go from living out of his car for three years to building a net worth of over $160 million? Faith, hard work, and imagination have propelled Steve Harvey to a uniquely successful career in entertainment. The boy that once dreamt of being on TV has made it onto our screens five days a week.
Ponder This
“If you want to kill a big dream, tell it to a small-minded person.”
- Steve Harvey.
Practice This
Make a Vision Board.
A vision board is a visualization tool made up of a collage of words and pictures that represent your goals and dreams.
Here are the steps to creating one:
Identify a list of goals for the next year or longer
Find pictures, words, and quotes that represent your goals or inspire you
Make a collage out of the words and images you chose
Add motivational, empowering words that represent how you want to feel
Put your board somewhere you can see regularly and review it daily
Play This
Every week, I share some of the music I listen to when I write. Studies have shown that playing a song or short playlist on repeat helps put you into a state of flow, which is optimal for creativity. The choice of music is up to you. I choose music that reflects the energy I want to infuse in my work. Most of the time, this means dreamy, melodic deep house. But sometimes, when I’m writing about something raw, I go with old school hip hop.
Here’s a link to a master playlist of all the songs I’ve shared so far.
